Deployment/install question
We originally purchased a full developer license, and I have that installed on my workstation.  We recently purchased 3 designer licenses so that I can deploy the setup out to the people on our network that we need to have report access.  I would like to be able to share the querys, and to that end, designated a network drive for the dataset and reports setup.

FoxFire is set up in c:\ff80
the remote drive structure is this:
L:\apps\foxfire windows\dbfs
    with files:
    dcogrps.cdx, dcogrps.dbf
    dcoitem.cdx, dcoitem.dbf, dcoitem.fpt
    dcojoin.cdx, dcojoin.dbf, dcojoin.fpt
    dcorqst.cdx, dcorqst.dbf, dcorqst.fpt

L:\apps\foxfire windows\reports
    with files:    fflaunch.xls, ffrpthd3.frx, ffrpthd3.frt
L:\apps\foxfire windows\out
L:\apps\foxfire windows\batch

When I try to create a distribution set I do the following:

1) go into administrators/developers section
2) select system administrator option from the tools menu
3) click on distribution wizard
4) select data set
5) select destination directory
6) check include license file
7) build list of files
which gives me a list of files, that include the following flagged in red:
4 files that are in DBF directory on shared network drive are flagged as not included, but they show as in \ff80\DBFS\ directory on the list
2 files that are in the reports directory on the shared network drive are flagged as not included, but they show as in \ff80\reports\ on the list
1 file, fenduser.frg shows as not found
9) Click on distribute button

at 96% copying I get a error dialog:
program: FRMDISTRO.COPYDBF
call stack:   27
with the detail report:
CAPPS           (Report Set: Direct Control Old  )
Current Alias
Currently in Foxfire! Distribution Wizard screen
PROCEDURE FRMDISTRO.COPYDBF C:\FF80\SCREENS\FFDISTRO.SCT
PROCEDURE FRMDISTRO.MAKEIMAGE C:\FF80\SCREENS\FFDISTRO.SCT
PROCEDURE FRMDISTRO.CMDFINISH.CLICK C:\FF80\SCREENS\FFDISTRO.SCT
PROCEDURE FRMDISTRO.CMDNEXT.CLICK C:\FF80\SCREENS\FFDISTRO.SCT
C:\FF80\FFDIST.EXE
PROCEDURE UTLMGR_RUN C:\FF80\FFADMIN.EXE
C:\FF80\FFADMIN.EXE
PROCEDURE RQ_BUTTONS FFREQMGR.FXP
FFREQMGR.FXP
C:\FF80\FOXFIRE.APP
C:\FF80\FFSTART9.EXE

then later I get a similar error with a different call stack of 20.

When I deploy to a workstation I install the foxpro 9 runtime from the website, then copy the ff80 directory from the deployment save location to the local drive, when I run the start executable in the ff80 directory I get the following errors while starting up:

1) error dialog:  Column 'REQID' is not found
2) operator/operand type mismatch
3) function argument vlaue, type, or count is invalid
4) Api library revision mismatch, rebuild library

and then the login dialog shows up, allowing me to log in using a user I set up as a designer in the developer edition for use.

The program then seems to work fine, I can run reports, I can make reports and things seem fine until I exit, where I get the error "variable 'pg_config' is not found" a couple times on exit.

Am I missing any steps?  or am I doing something wrong to cause the several errors that I am getting?

Thanks.

Re: Deployment/install question
Hi Patrick,

What version is being deployed? I know the pg_config error was a problem in earlier releases but it should not exist in the most recent versions.

Re: Deployment/install question
Patrick,

I was able to trace the problem down to a bug in the Distribution Wizard. It copied over your STRINGS table and renamed it to FFQUEUE which is what is giving you the REQID error.

I've attached a fixed FFDIST.EXE but it will also be updated in the latest update.

The majority of errors are fixed with this updated version.  I still am getting the "api library revision mismatch.  rebuild library"

This is having run the VFP 9 runtime installer on the workstation.  We also run two other foxpro applications, one is a VFP 9 and one is a VFP 6 application, both load all resources from across the network and have had no install run locally (unlike the VFP9 runtime I have run for FoxFire).

Also after attempting to run foxfire on the workstations and ignoring the API error, I get continual errors attempting to access reports I have pre-created for the deployment.  I am redoing the reports now, to ensure that i didnt mess something up with them as I prepared for the deployment.

On one of the two designers workstations, not only do we get the "mismatched" error on start up and a crash dialog when switching between databases, we are also getting a popup dialog telling us license information about the "Command bars library v.4.2" with a licensee name and license ID code.
