Re: Report that filters based upon results of another report?
I wish I could find step by step instructions on how to do this. I'd try to follow your instructions, but I'm not certain what you mean when you say,
"The name you specify in the result name on the first page of the existing field would be used in the data item expression of each new item's definition. You will specify the name of the intermediate table in the expression for each new data item."
and
"Specify that the output of the first Request goes to a table with the name you chose for the intermediate table, and choose those fields you need to process the second Request."

Are you saying go to the Output section and choose "Data" as the Output type and then...which type of data in the second box...?
I'm a bit lost there. I know in the past I did see instructions on using the output of one report as input for a second, but I can't remember where.

I actually think I am in a situation now where I need to do this, but I need more information. I know what fields I want to output in the first request, in fact I have that request, but I don't know how to output its results to the second request.

Re: Report that filters based upon results of another report?
OK.

Let's see if I can make this clearer with different steps.

1. Run the initial request that should create the table.
2. Then go to System Admin and Import Data items from a table.
3. Select the table you just created from the request.
This will create new data item definitions for that table (the one that was run from Foxfire the first time)
4. Now build your second request using those definitions.

When you run your second request, it will pull the data from the table created from the first request.

The only thing you need to be careful of is ensuring that you run the first request before you run the second request in order to get the most recent results.

Does that make more sense?

Re: Report that filters based upon results of another report?
Sorry it's been a while since I've had time to look at this.

I am able to run the initial request to output to a table in .dbf format. But I cannot get Foxfire to see that table in order to Import data items from it.
When I go to System Admin and then Import Tables, it sees all of our DB app's tables in our SQL Server database, but it doesn't see the file I created, it isn't available in the drop-down box where you select a table. I know I'm missing something obvious here.

I also tried outputting the first report to cursor, but I'm unsure how to access that cursor with the next report in the chain.
