SQL Join Errors

I've noticed that sometimes changing the structure of a request in Foxfire 6 will result in bad SQL queries. The two primary issues are:

  1. A data item in the filter will not get included in the SELECT statement
    1. Result: SQL error - Cannot bind column
  2. The same table alias will be added multiple times to the FROM clause
    1. Result: SQL error - Cannot specify a table with the same alias multiple times within a FROM clause

My "fix" for item 1 is to add the data item to the report as a hidden item to for it into the SELECT.

I do not have a good fix for item 2. Usually I end up recreating the report from scratch with the structure changes. This works most of the time.

I cannot be the only one who has experienced this. Please help.

Thank you,

Dale Millson

Re: SQL Join Errors
Hi Dale.

By changing the structure of a request, do you mean simply by changing the data items in it or actually physically changing the data structure of the request table?

What type of database are you running your queries against? I have not seen the Cannot Bind Column error before.

Regarding your second item, is it possible your data dictionary is referring to the alias with multiple case styles (example: Cars vs CARS vs cars) ?
