As a DBA tasked with also maintaining my company's Foxfire data dictionary I keep running into difficulties due to the 28 character length limit of the rdi_name field in the data items table. The software engineers love to create really long names and it's been impossible to add every new field while still having a readable name.

Is it possible to make this field larger without causing Foxfire to fail? If modifications have to be made, can it be done through the configuration program?
