Let me clarify a few of Andrew's points:
For you to test out FF yourself, all you need is a developer edition. It includes a designer license so you can create reports. If you have another potential Designer *inside your organization*, you can purchase a Developer plus one additional Designer for $395.
If you want customers outside your organization to be able to evaluate Foxfire!'s Designer capabilities, any number of them can download a full working evaluation copy from the home page of this site for free and try it up to 30 times within a 60 day period. Isn't that enough time to see if they like it? (Come to think of it, you could do the same thing to evaluate Foxfire! for yourself first.)
Thereafter, you can Designer licenses in various combinations.
Doesn't that seem like the safest way to go?
