Web Report Feature Release

Hi, need to find out whether the web reporting in foxfire already release.

If yes, does it sold together with desktop foxfire 8+ or it will be sold separately?

If no, when will be the target release date.

Btw, I have an web application developed using C#.NET. Currently I'm using SQL reporting services to print/view report. I'm interested to find out whether I can use the foxfire web reporting to replace the SQL reporting services?

Thanks.

Re: Web Report Feature Release
Hi.
Foxfire! Web 1.0 is currently in a Release Candidate form.

It works in conjunction with Foxfire! 8+Desktop. There is a Web Developer license that you can purchase now  (and receive the released version) lets you use the web version in conjunction with your developer edition. Thus, you can create a report in the Desktop version and it works in the web version and likewise, a report from the web version will work with the Windows version.

Have you taken a look at the videos we have on our site?

Re: Web Report Feature Release

Hi Andrew,

I have couple of questions that needs some clarification:-

1.   One of the feature in the Foxfire Web Reporting is that it will share the report request created in Window Desktop version and Vice Versa. So my question is that is the report request table (or others necessary table such as data item and join table) for Web Reporting will be accessing Foxpro table?

2.   Can Foxfire Web Reporting support SQL Server as backend application database?

3.   May I know what is the cost require to purchase the Foxfire Web Reporting?

4.   Instead of accessing the Web Reporting as separate user login (as what have shown in your Video Demo), can we incoporate it within our own application? and w/o need to login?

5.   Do you have any limit of user access to run and print the report through Web Reporting at the same time?

Regards.

Re: Web Report Feature Release
Let me answer your questions one at a time.
1. Yes - the Foxfire! meta data is still stored as a FoxPro table.
2. Yes - Foxfire! web reporting can report from SQL Server databases.
3. The Web Developer edition (single server) is $495 - you can purchase it online here or at http://store.micromegasystems.com. Licensing for a server depends on your usage environment - for example, if you are hosting and want to pay as a subscription basis, there is an option for that. Send your usage environment to sales@foxfirereporting.com and we can take a look at that.
4. Yes - absolutely. You can send the user ID and password with your initial request, thereby bypassing the login screen.
5. The Web Reporting uses a Queue Manager to manage output. This queue manager can be run multiple times on the server (as separate threads), thereby allowing multiple reports to run simultaneously.

Let me know if this clarifies everything or if you have any more questions.

Re: Web Report Feature Release

Andrew,

Thanks for the clarification. Anyway, I have some more questions:-

1.   Let say I'm not hosting the server and I would like to install the Web Reporting in my client server. Is there any additional cost I (or my client) need to invest if they want to design (or add) new reports by themself?

What I have seen from the Demo saying that the report created either in Foxfire 8+ (desktop) or Web can be used vice versa. However I do understand that if my client want to have the ability to add/create new report, they need to purchase additional license on it. Thus, if my client want to have the ability to add/create new report through Web Reporting, is there any additional cost on top of the $495 Single Server license you have mentioned?

2.   Can I purchase only the Web Developer Edition w/o the Standard foxfire 8+ or I need both?

3.   As a developer, what is the minimum investment (or startup cost) I need tospent if I want to try out the Web Reporting? That means I need to have the full capability which including source codes for me to make my own changes if necessary.

Regards.
